Treatments Modalities

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Exposure and Response Prevention

Behavioral Activation Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on identifying maladptave (incorrect) ways of thinking. Treatment with a CBT therapist tends to focus on identifying faulty patterns of thinking, challenging them and changing them leading to less difficulty in overall functioning.
ERP is often coupled with CBT and involves the repeated and gradual process of exposing a patient to a feared event/object/outcome and teaching them to utilize a different behavioral response to that feared event/object/outcome. The expectation for treatment is that over time the individuals fear will diminish, their tolerance of their negative feelings will increase, and their behaviors will change as a result.
Behavioral activation focuses on movement and activity. Most individuals suffering from depressive disorders will avoid, isolate and withdrawal from all of the things in life that they enjoy. BAT focuses on getting an individual reengaged with their life and the things they enjoyed prior to the depressive disorder.

Acceptance and Committment Therapy

Habit Reversal Training

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Habit Reversal Training is a process of teaching an individual to identify triggers for pulling or picking and then utilizing a response that is in direct contradiction to the picking or pulling behavior.
DBT focuses on helping individuals learn how to regulate their emotions. We primarily focus on the mindfulness aspect of this theapy.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a unique empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility.

Angelique Howington Works

Angelique Howington earned her M.S. from Lipscomb University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certification in Play Therapy. After completing her practicum and internship with Rogers Behavioral Health, she now serves as a contract counselor while working on her Ph.D. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Teaching and Supervision at Trevecca University.

Angelique has a heart for working with children and young adults who are struggling with OCD, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and life changes. Angelique’s approach to counseling involves a mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person Centered Therapy. She believes that the practical, research-based action-steps of CBT are most productive when paired with a strong therapeutic relationship that is characterized by trust and an unconditional positive regard for the client. Furthermore, Angelique incorporates many expressive modalities in her therapy sessions; this is seen in her passion to work with sand tray. She uses an integrative approach to create a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate environment in which individuals can explore and grow.
In her spare time, Angelique enjoys live theater, playing with her two year-old pitbull puppy, Rhea, going to flea markets, binging shows on Netflix, and spending time with her friends and family.
